For Engineers Recognition this week we wanted to extend a cool little kit that includes a few different items geared for the Engineers out there. First in the kit will be a Surveyors/Engineers style Safety Vest (Lime or Orange) that comes with decoration included. Second in the kit you will get one of four of your choice Leatherman Multi-Tools, also coming with a personalized engraving of your choice. Last of all will be an real cool item called the Lenser LED Blue Moon Focus system clipped pencil light. All this, including decoration, we’re handing out for a fraction of the normal cost. We hope everyone enjoys the deal and takes the time this week to thank our engineers around the world for the hard work they do every day.
“Nothing too heavy….nothing too high for this monstrous Sarens crane that did major heavy lifting during construction of the Intel computer chip fabrication plant in Chandler Arizona. Transported by ships from the Sarens family owned company in Belgium to California, the 155 containers of crane parts and sections were then loaded onto semi trucks and delivered to Arizona. The crane base was anchored to the ground and then built by other cranes. Rigging International are the specialists who assembled and operated the crane. It stands close to 800 feet tall and can lift some serious tonnage.” – ChopperguyHD

Here is a really wonderful set of educational resources put out by OSHA that could be used in any number of ways by Companies. For instance, I know there are companies out there that require employees to complete a number of training hours per year regarding safety; These videos could be utilized to put together hours worth of training, all set up in a matter of minutes.
Their are 12 videos in all, ranging from 2-4 minutes each, which may not be long, but if you use group input and demonstrations following each video, perhaps even include personal stories and how incidents could have been avoided using highlights from the video, you have several hours of useful and effective training while adapting a sense of company / employee cohesion through individual collaboration.
Their is a wide array of useful possibilities for these resources due their availability to the public and the ease of the Video Selection Interface, the videos are available to stream from YouTube, or to download and run right from your computer. So please take the time and look through the following article and see for yourself.

A native Oregonian, Tim received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University in 1970. Time spent traveling abroad ultimately led to the Leatherman multipurpose tool concept. From the beginning, Tim has built the company on a simple philosophy: manufacture product on time, meet specifications, increase value, and provide a pleasant work environment. When asked about the company’s devotion to quality, Tim simply replies, “My name is on every tool.” Although Tim is now retired, he still visits the factory at least every month and plays an active role in the direction the company is going, including many trips abroad to visit with Leatherman’s extensive network of international distributors.
